Teaching Development Program – Advanced Track (2025)

The goal of the TDP is the cultivation of effective and innovative teaching practices through a rigorous curriculum that includes the completion of the following requirements:

  • An annotated first day plan and policy sheet
  • Essentials of teaching and learning workshops’Essentials of teaching and learning workshops
  • Six additional pedagogy workshops
  • One mid-course review
  • One teaching observation
  • One observation of faculty instructor
  • One observation of peer instructor
  • A teaching portfolio
  • An exit interview

  • A 5-week intensive seminar on Innovative Course Design during which I developed a graduate seminar titled: “Indigenous and Decolonial Approaches to Art History in Abiayala and Turtle Island.”

I have also gone above and beyond the minimum requirements and have requested:

Discipline Specific Pedagogical Training

Principles of Literary Study (2023-2024)

This year-long pedagogy seminar for first-time Literature Humanities instructors, focusing on classroom management strategies, student wellbeing, assessment design, and best practices to engage students. The seminar is 2 hours long and held once a week, in addition to a weekly expert lecture on best pedagogical approaches to each text.

Didactics of Spanish Learning and Culture (2019)

This Spanish language pedagogy seminar met for three hours on a weekly basis for one semester. The seminar consisted introduced first-time language instructors to pedagogical principles, methodological strategies, and practical activities that are crucial for successful Second Language pedagogy. In addition to the weekly meetings, the seminar required one being observed by a Senior Lecturer in Spanish and observing and reflecting on two language class sessions by more experienced instructors.

Graduate Seminar in University Teaching – Fine Arts (2017)

This seminar prepares graduate students for an academic teaching career. It included 32 hours of instruction, 20 hours for individual reading and assignments, developing and annotating a syllabus, as well as microteaching sessions with feedback from peers and the instructor.
